Crittenden County seeks bids on hospital



Crittenden County Fiscal Court met in special session on Tuesday with magistrates agreeing to a measure that will likely result in the sale of Crittenden Hospital to a private healthcare company. People's emissions are causing the planet to heat up and more than 93% of this heat goes into the oceans. People have measured ocean temperatures for a long time. Reliable records go back to at least 1880. Ever since records began, the oceans were colder than they are now. NOAA analysis shows that, on the Northern Hemisphere, the 20th century average for June is 16.4°C (61.5°F). In June 2015, it was a record 0.87°C (1.57°F) higher. Back in history, there have been times when it was warmer. The last time when it was warmer than today, during the Eemian Period, peak temperature was only a few tenths of a degree higher than today, according to the IPCC . In those days, there was huge melting, accompanied by extreme storms and sea levels that were 5 to 9 m higher than today. Public offices closing for holidays

All city, county and state offices will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. That includes the senior center, Extension service, animal shelter and convenience center. The PVA, clerk, sheriff and circuit clerk offices will be open only a half-day Wednesday, closing at noon. However, the judge-executive’s office will be open all day Wednesday. The public library and federal offices, including the postal service, will be closed only Thanksgiving Day. The Crittenden Press will be closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving, but the newspaper will be on newsstands as usual next Wednesday.

Arctic Ocean Shows New Record Low Sea Ice

by Albert Kallio Both the sea ice thickness and sea ice area have fallen to new record lows for this time of the year (22.11.2015), even surpassing all of the worst previous years. From Naval Research Laboratory image - view  animation Immense thrust of fast moving sea ice is pushing through at the full width of the Fram Strait between Norway and Greenland. This amounts to huge transport of latent coldness out of the Arctic Ocean to North Atlantic, while the constantly forming new sea ice (as temperatures are below 0°C) is generating heat to keep the surface air temperatures higher across the Arctic Ocean. Thus, heat is constantly being added to the Arctic Ocean while heat is taken away from the North Atlantic Ocean. The normal sea ice area for this time of year is 9,625,000 km 2 , whereas the sea ice covers currently just 8,415,890 km 2, , which makes that 1,209,120 km 2  sea ice is missing from the normal (22.11) sea ice area.
